Yosemite's Firefall Phenomenon
What is Firefall? 👇🏻
(Save this post to your bucket list collection!)
Natural Firefall (they used to fake this in the summer) is a phenomenon that happens in Yosemite National Park every February. It also happens in October but that’s incredibly rare!
Conditions have to be perfect though!Horsetail falls has to be flowing. No runoff means no waterfall and to have enough run off it needs to snow or rain. If it’s snow it also has to be warm enough during the day to melt the snow. The horizon needs to be clear at sunset as well.
If all of these things are perfect you’ll have ten minutes of beautiful Firefall down the side of El Capitan at sunset. 🔥
Run off wasn’t the best while I was there but I definitely caught some of the magic 👆🏻
Witnessing this phenomenon is a vibe you’ll never forget! And don’t forget your layers like these from @lskd | gifted
