Would you make the drive to Yosemite National Park for Firefall? Exactly one year ago today, I started a 20 hour drive (one way and solo) from Colorado to California to see this natural phenomenon. Sure, you absolutely can see it more than once in your life but that first time will always sit in your soul. I had seen photos of Firefall all over Nat Geo growing up so when some internet friends I had yet to physically meet said “we rented a yurt and there is an extra bed” I said see ya there! It wasn’t the most epic year for Firefall since there wasn’t much snow/runoff but what I did see made younger Nikki explode. I did it, I saw Firefall with my own eyeballs, and I couldn’t be happier that I did! I really wish I was going this year 😅 Make your younger self explode with joy and chase those dreams no matter how ‘silly’ or ‘unrealistic’ they seem.
