Exploring the Redwood Forests Like a Movie Set
The Redwoods feels like you’re on another planet or in a movie ✨

When we first saw the Redwoods I immediately thought of the movie Avatar by James Cameron because the trees are so big (obviously not as big as the trees in that movie but still) and @cuyler_thecreator thought of Jurassic Park because he knew parts of the original series were made in the redwoods.

So naturally we did some research to see if we were close to any of the filming locations and we were!

Fern Canyon is in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is at the very end of the only road in the park. The hike to it is more of a walk unless you do the loop over the canyon, which is less than two miles and involves some incline. You absolutely can do just the canyon, but either way you’ll need waterproof shoes and some steady balance because a river/creek runs right through the canyon and I’m sure is more intense during different parts of the year.

The canyon feels like a movie, just as much as the rest of the Redwoods do. It’s massive with so much plant life and if you look closing a lot of cute wildlife 😊 AND it’s right on the coast, so once you’re done with the canyon you can head straight out to the beach and maybe even spot some elk out there!

When you travel do you you ever look up if any movies were filmed in the area you’re exploring? Or do you ever see something and go “hey ____ was filmed here!”
