Remembering My Beloved Grandma

Today would have been my grandmas 89th birthday. If you’ve been watching my stories you know I spent the last month back home in South Dakota and unfortunately, it wasn’t for an extended trip to see my family.. My grandma passed away and quite frankly it has broken my heart in a way I’ve never felt before. My grandma was one of two of my favorite people on earth, the other being my mom. My childhood wasn’t full of ‘mom and dad’ statements it was always mom and grandma. We moved in with her when I was around ten years old where she continued to help raise me and my sister from her home after she raised my older brother there too. I wouldn’t be where I am today and care for people the way that I do if I hadn’t learned it from her. She was THEE definition of generous, kind, caring, loving, aaaand stubborn… She was never concerned about herself but focused so hard on everyone else and you couldn’t convince her for a second to think of her needs. She cared so deeply for others and glued us all together with that love. She was the best grandma in the whole world. She never let us acknowledge that she had a birthday so I’m doing it now.
