The image captures a breathtaking scene from Yosemite National Park. In the foreground, a woman dressed in a vibrant red jacket is seated on a rocky outcrop, her blonde hair flowing in the breeze as she gazes out at the majestic vista before her. She appears awestruck by the natural beauty surrounding her. The rugged landscape is adorned with towering granite cliffs, including the iconic Half Dome, casting long shadows across the verdant valley below. A waterfall cascades down the sheer rock face, adding to the grandeur of the scene. The valley floor is blanketed in a lush forest of evergreen trees, providing a striking contrast to the bare rock formations. The image exudes a sense of serenity and wonder, capturing the essence of Yosemite's awe-inspiring natural splendor.

Protecting Our National Parks

Did you know photographers helped National Parks become a thing? Photographers like Ansel Adams lugged massive film cameras and make shift dark rooms through places like Yosemite to show people around the world the beauty of nature, in turn, leading to Americaā€™s National Parks System being created to protect these stunning places. I studied Ansel Adams and heaps of other photographers that paved the way for my love of photography and being outdoors, so finally seeing pieces of nature, like Half Dome, with my own eyes was really an emotional experience for me. I want everyone to experience the outdoors and the beautiful national parks pictured above. The US government is threatening to shut down at midnight on September 30th due to a budget disagreement, which could ultimately lead to shutting down all the national park sites in the US. While closing the parks would protect wildlife and cultural and natural resources from damage and litter, a shutdown would also affect local economies that depend on park tourism, the park staff going unpaid, and visitors like you and me, who after dreaming, saving, and planning for a trip could be forced to reschedule.
