All summer y’all kept asking how we find these epic alpine lake hikes. It’s pretty simple and I’m going to tell you right now!
-
Google maps. Open it and make sure you have either satellite or terrain mapping on and start searching for lakes in the mountain ranges by zooming in and scrolling around. Once you’ve found one, which is usually pretty easy in Colorado, either look around to see if google maps shows a trail head or cross reference with a hiking app like @alltrails

You could search this way through All Trails or other hiking apps as well, but typically the photos to these hikes in the apps don’t do them justice. We avoid being image driven to a trail from the apps because all but one hike we did this summer had good images of the hike we chose. Typically these hikes are harder so I’m assuming that’s why there is no information. 🤷🏼♀️

Keep in mind the elevation gain in the distance of the hike, especially if you do not live in high altitudes and wish to visit a place that is and hike there!
