How I Started Traveling
How did you start traveling?
(Save this post for your own travels and share it with a fellow traveler or aspiring one!)
Another question y’all have been asking and I’m here to answer!
I wasn’t a kid that was into cartoons/animated shows or movies as a kid. Instead I watched a lot of Mary Kate and Ashley, Nat Geo, and Oprah. 🤪
I loved seeing other parts of the world romanticized, what lives there and how it survives, and the kind of people that live in different places and what they experience. I have ALWAYS dreamed of seeing the world but didn’t really know where to start.
And then my mom and grandma threw my sister and I on a plane alone when I was 16 to go visit our aunt in Texas. I had never been on a plane and I LOVED it! The airport, landing and seeing so many people getting on and off planes to and from far away places, visiting Texas and experiencing so much that it took weeks for my travel high to die down, and so many other things!
And I chased that feeling. With road trips, plane tickets, train rides, my own two feet, I just went!
How I got into traveling won’t be the same for you or anyone else. You could be someone who has never left their hometown or someone who feels like they don’t have a town to call home. What matters is that you have a desire to do something and you should chase it!
In a basic sense, the best advice I can give people is to start small. Take day trips to towns you’ve never been to that are near where you live and find unique things about it. The town doesn’t need to be desirable to the rest of us internet users but it will help you step into weekend trips to farther places, plane rides for long weekends, and even longer trips to other countries.
You have to decide what works for you and your travel dreams!
How did you get into travel or are you someone looking to travel?
