Conquering the 13,000 ft Summit
Have you ever hiked to 13,000 ft or higher?
-
Prior to this hiked I had capped out around 12,000 ft. Don’t get me wrong 12,000 ft is difficult but 13,500 ft is HARD.
-
I didn’t really understand what was happening with my body the closer I got to the top. I was out of breath after 5 steps instead of fifty, I couldn’t pick up my legs, and my backpack with a sandwich, salad and water in it felt like it was full of bricks.
-
The group struggled, but we kept pushing and this is what was waiting for us at the top. I could have stayed there forever trying to suck whatever oxygen was in the air into my lungs, watching the sun play with that beautiful blue water.

When was the last time you pushed yourself (in a healthy way) mentally or physically? Was it worth it? Did it give you a rush that’s feels addicting?

DISCLAIMER: If you’re not from a high altitude location please don’t visit a place that is and run to the top of a mountain. Do your research and then maybe attempt a good hike.
