Nikki Tomlin
A young woman with long, blonde hair is gazing out of an apartment window, lost in thought. She is wearing a casual, white top and sitting on the windowsill, surrounded by sheer, white curtains. Outside the window, a view of a quiet residential neighborhood is visible, with rows of brick houses and cars parked along the street. The overcast sky adds a pensive, melancholic mood to the scene.

Considerations for Accommodation in London

What to consider when picking a place to stay in London! (Save this post for you next trip to London!) Obviously, cost is a huge factor in choosing where to stay so your cheapest options will be hostels and hotels that are much farther away from Central London. But you will spend money commuting and depending on how far out you are you might end up spending more money getting around than if you stayed at a slightly more expensive place closer to London so… Make sure to consider what you’re doing in London. If you’re there for an event than finding a place closer to where the event is will get you less travel time and travel cost. If you’re visiting London for the first time and looking to hit all the tourist attractions and don’t want to spend the money to stay in Central London than your best bet will be finding hotels/Airbnb’s in outlying neighborhoods and using public transit to hop into the city. Chiswick and Ealing are the two areas I’ve explored and would recommend based off proximity to Central London, easy transit to Central London, and things to do/places to eat close to where you’re staying. Add Southwark to the list as well! I’ve also heard South Kensington and Chelsea are great too, but can be a biiiit pricier! Airbnb’s are a bit more expensive nowadays but are still an excellent option if you want more of a unique stay. Be sure to check transit time (including when trains stop running) and costs to and from where you’re looking to stay and the things you want to do prior to booking so you have an idea of how much time it will take to get where you need to be and to make sure you don’t go over budget! Do you prefer cheaper stays and longer transit times or more expensive stays for shorter transit times?
