Alaska Cruise: What to Know
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT CRUISING TO ALASKA
(Save this post for planning your cruise to Alaska)
🗓When are Alaska cruises and what's the best time to go?
Cruises run from May-September and each month offers its own pros and cons. Shoulder season (May and September) offer the cheapest bookings while the summer months offer the warmest days. If you want to see Alaska blooming than spring is the best time to visit, while fall obviously offers it’s own change of seasons.
In my experience and from what I’ve heard from others, September is the toughest time as far as sea sickness goes. More storms=more waves 😬 Check my highlights to see what I’m talking about!
⏳How long are the cruises?
Most cruises to Alaska average 7 days but there are some that are between 7-30! And that depends on the cruise line as well. Can you imagine being on at 30 day cruise?? 😳
☀️Will the sun set while I’m there?
The days are longer so depending on the time of year you might only get 3 hours of night sky. Don’t worry, the rooms have great black out curtains! But can you imagine walking out onto your balcony or the deck at 11pm and being able to watch whales flip their tales out of the water? 😍
🐋What wildlife will I see?
Visiting Alaska pretty much guarantees you’re going to see some next level wildlife. Moose, caribou, bears, seals, humpback and orca whales, eagles etc. I even saw a porcupine!
Would you rather go on a cruise to a cold or warm destination?
