The Road Ahead: Embracing Unity over Division
In an age of outrage it’s important to remember that just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right. -
Whether you realize it or not, we live in a culture of divide. We are expected to take one side or the other. Right or left. Blue or red. We divide ourselves into groups based on race, belief, religion, preferences, intelligence, wealth and by extension completely shun the other side. -
It has gotten to the point that we are no longer dividing into groups based on what we support, but we are actually bonding together against things we despise, oftentimes because it offends us. This has no doubt led to an increase in violence and hatred toward the opposing side. -
When did we get the notion that just because we are offended, it must make us right? Why have we divided based on hate rather than inclusion? On separation rather than integration. This goes for every single one of us cause I know even I have done it. -
Groups are a powerful thing. When people bond together they can move with a force that is not easy to destroy. That force can either be of hate, shame, name calling, and violence, or it can be of love, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self control. -
It takes a lot more effort to be the latter but that’s what the world needs. We don’t need another post about whatever you are trying to promote, we need more people that actively practice love and patience. -
The best way to make someone reconsider is by having an intelligent loving and non judgmental conversation with them human to human. Yelling, name calling, and exposing does little except boost your own ego. People respond when you show you care. -
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 - •
