The Reality Behind Social Media Highlights
The biggest lie you can ever believe 👇
Don’t believe what you see on Instagram. There’s no such thing as overnight success and success doesn’t come without struggle.
I am guilty of only sharing highlights early in my career. The epic views, fancy trips, and things I thought would get views. I neglected to show the hardships of my job, the constant comparison mindgame, the rejection I felt daily from brands I knew didn’t believe in me, the gear that was stolen and the dream that almost was. The many days I thought why am I even doing this?
As I’ve gotten older and worked with more creatives, I’ve realized that experience isn’t unique to me. In fact I’d venture to say all creatives go through their own version of it. Rejection, feeling inadequate, doubt, it’s all part of the game and it’s natural. But it’s the ones that push forward despite these feelings, the ones that are relentless even when it doesn’t make sense, that are the ones that succeed.
I filmed a full video that I posted to YT about my story and also things I haven’t ever shared publicly. If you’re in a place where you’re looking at IG and feeling discouraged because you aren’t feeling like you can do it. I hope this video encourages you. The link to the full video is in my bio.
