Remembering a Life Well-Lived

This past week I’ve been in Phoenix celebrating the life of an amazing man. My grandpa was 88 when he passed peacefully last week. After attending the funeral, it really put life in perspective for me. People didn’t talk about what he drove, what his house was like, how much he made. He was inducted in the Arizona aviation hall of fame and had a huge impact on aviation in Arizona as a whole (that’s why they did the missing man flyover that you can see if you scroll through the pics) But even so, that was just briefly mentioned. They didn’t mention the various businesses he owned, or where he traveled, which are unfortunately the typical staples of a successful man in American society. What was mentioned was the impact he had on the people around him, the causes he cared about and the lessons he left behind. When it all boils down, most things in life have little lasting value, however they are the things society pushes us towards: make more money, buy more stuff, get more influence. The list goes on but they are all distractions. The things that matter are often the things we get little acknowledgement for, minimal praise, and to be honest, we may even view as insignificant. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:18 “there’s far more than what meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.” I will always remember him for his generosity and the impact he had on our family. God bless ✈️ Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙
