Overcoming Distractions for a Purposeful Life
What constantly distracts us will eventually define us. -
We are living in the most distracted time in history. Every second of the day a company is trying to advertise to us, the news is trying to tell us something we should worry about, someone is trying to contact us, and if we’re not being bombarded by outside distractions, our own minds race with our todo list. It’s no wonder so many people have trouble finding their purpose these days. How could you when you’re so preoccupied with everything else.
The problem is, the more distracted you are, the harder it is to pursue things that actually matter and you will eventually be defined as a person who procrastinates, doesn’t take action, and ultimately did not live up to their potential. So how do you become undistracted? Let me be the first to say I am by no means an expert, however here are some things that I do to try to keep myself focused.

1. Prayer. Start the day with thanking God. Thanksgiving sets the tone for the rest of the day.
2. Put your phone on airplane mode and only take it off at certain planned times.
3. Make a task list. I actually am terrible at this but when I do it, I find it much easier to stay on track.
4. Batch process responses. Emails, texts, dms etc. can all be answered at once so you don’t spend the whole day distracted by incoming messages.
That’s just a few things that are simple to implement that help me a lot with staying on track. I’d love to hear some tricks that you guys have!
