Handmade Jewelry Supporting Trafficking Victims
40 million. -
The estimated number of people being trafficked throughout the world right now. -
Obviously that’s a lot but it hits home because the US is one of the largest consumers and producers of sex trafficking activity. Even worse, it’s happening in Hawaii and no one talks about it. Child And Family Services (Cfs) did a survey of 363 sex trafficking victims across all the islands and found some startling facts. -
Although trafficking is often viewed as a violent crime, it’s more often a coercion. It’s undercover. In fact the majority of times (75%) the trafficker is a person the victim knows (either a parent, boyfriend, or family friend). And lockdown has made it worse due to children often being isolated and away from people they trust. I’ve heard quite a few horror stories about events that have happened even here on Oahu. -
All that to say, there’s some amazing organizations providing housing and care to victims. I’m incredibly proud of my fiancé @abby_hawaii heart as well. One of the first things she told me when we met is that she has a heart for the victims and she wanted to find a way to help provide care and get them back on their feet. Her ultimate goal in life is to have a non profit that does just that! -
She just launched a handmade jewelry company called @voy_jewelry in order to do so and is donating 10% of proceeds to a partner organization Islands of hope which focuses on providing Christ centered safe houses from victims of sex trafficking. -
I encourage you to check out @voy_jewelry or contact @abby_hawaii for more info about the mission and vision behind it. -
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 -
