Embracing Growth and Change
Growing things change. -
Have you ever seen someone after a few years and they tell you you’re different? They don’t say in a good way or a bad way but it’s kinda assumed that they don’t like the change? -
Growth requires change. There’s no other way about it. If you don’t develop you don’t grow. But as a result, some people may not like it because they don’t want to grow with you. They liked the you they used to know, not the you that you are trying to become. -
Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a delicate balance. You don’t want to become a workaholic or narcissistic jerk, which can both be very possible in the world of self development. But you also don’t want to let other people’s lack of ambition or your past inhibit your ability to grow. -
One of the concepts I’ve adopted which may sound harsh is the idea of seasonal friends. You have your best friends (people you can call any time and will always be there). Typically you only have about 3 of these. Then you have friends for different seasons of life. Your best friends in high school may no longer be your best friends and that’s ok. You may meet someone tomorrow that becomes your best friend for life. You never know. Sometimes you will make friends around destructive habits and associating with those people, may cause you to stumble back into a destructive lifestyle. -
The key is to surround yourself with people that inspire, encourage, and push you to grow. Growth requires change in a lot of things, so what do you need to switch up? -
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 -
