Don't Give Up on Your Dreams
You’ll watch an entire Netflix show even though the first few episodes are slow and boring just because your friend told you it gets better as you keep watching.
What if we treated our goals like that and watched our life get better instead?
It’s always been a pet peeve of mine when people see what I do for a job and say things like, “it must be nice” or “you’re lucky you can do that.” Both of these are true, but the attitude behind it is so debilitating. Statements like this assume that I just got lucky and happened to start traveling for a living. Even worse, it assumes that “luck” only applies to some people and not them.
Just take a swipe and see for yourself. Those first few pictures you see were my first “travel photos” and I can guarantee you that no brand wanted to hire me at that point. That was about 6 years ago now.
If my life was a Netflix show, you’d see the first few years and be like, man that dude sucks. There’s no way he’s gonna be shooting for the top brands in the world by age 24 (I’m 27 now btw) and you’d turn it off. You’d write me off as just another delusional 20 year old with an unrealistic dream. And to be honest, I wouldn’t blame you. I didn’t have any significant work, was barely scraping by, was taking every small gig I could. But I saw the vision and knew what it took to get there. I didn’t know all the steps, but I knew the end goal.
Don’t let people write you off. Don’t let the slow start dictate the future. Don’t let what you see now on my page or anyone else’s discourage you from chasing your dream. What you see is the culmination of about 8 years of work. Contrary to popular internet mentality, success doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen if you stay consistent.
Be blessed and stay stoked 🤙😎
