Appreciating the Ordinary
Does your life seem boring? -
No serious question. If you really stop and think about it do you find your life to be boring? -
We tend to think of life in a linear movie like fashion. We were born, then did some things and made some memories that have brought us to where we are now, usually working a job. Then there’s some things we plan on doing, but right now we’re in that in between stage. -
Every day life typically consists of waking up, being kinda groggy, jumping in the car to go to a job to get that bread, then getting more bread at dominies, because you know, pizza, then going home and relaxing for a bit before going to bed to do it all over again. Sound familiar? -
To be completely honest there’s a lot of days that I think my life is boring. I know that may sound crazy based on what you see on my Instagram, but what you see is simply the highlights. I’m not hiking everyday, traveling everyday, or going to luxury resorts everyday. In reality, most days I’m sitting in front of a computer. Now I am aware that I do a lot of cool things as well but that’s actually the problem. -
I’m guilty of comparing my entire life to the highlights, and when something doesn’t match up for a longer period of time I get bored. It’s unsustainable and unhealthy to think that my entire life could be a highlight, because the reality is it’s not. And that’s a good thing! -
Living your best life does not mean cramming as many “highlight days in as possible.” Just because a day doesn’t feel like a highlight, doesn’t mean it’s subpar or you’re wasting potential. The highlights should not be the expectation. Most of life is lived in the normal days. -
Living a good life is about living out good days. Not necessarily highlights, but days where you did something that mattered. You got closer to God, you strengthened a relationship, you made a positive step to build a good habit, etc. not crazy things but positive things that make a difference over time. -
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 -
