The Dangers of Instant Gratification
Are you selling your future for a moment of gratification? -
It’s so easy to do now a days. We live in an age where attention is the most important currency so companies compete to see who can distract you for long enough to potentially buy their product. Today, Black Friday, is a prime example of that. -
But it extends far beyond marketing. If you’re hungry, there’s a grocery store, if you’re lazy there’s a TV, if you’re horny you have your computer, if you’re depressed you can take a pill. The “solutions” to all these issues are so easy and accessible, but at the same time devastating to our well being. The problem is they are sold to us as legit solutions either by the companies themselves or by culture. -
One of the keys towards building your future now is delayed gratification. A lot of times this is used in terms of hustle in business but it should extend to every aspect of life. When you delay gratification, you give yourself incentive to complete a goal set out for yourself. By giving in, you allow the dopamine rush to get to your head which 1. Fatigues you and 2. Breaks your conditioning for the work/reward ratio. -
Delayed gratification builds discipline which is essential for success in everything from business to relationships. Don’t sell out your future for a cheap rush. It’ll eventually catch up to you. -
Be blessed and stays stoked 😎🤙 - •
