RTIC Coolers: Invaluable for Adventuring Off-Grid
⚙️🚨 Gear Talk Tuesday w/ @rticoutdoors 🚨⚙️
My boyfriend @sea2summitadventurer and I hit the road for a December across the Southwest in our cabover camper, with our cat, on a quest for sunshine, memories, & soul nourishment with some off-the-beaten-path adventures. We encountered everything from -3 degree temperatures, to dead batteries (including the heater in the camper), flat tires, freezing pipes, wild animals, and some of the most scenic places we’ve ever gazed upon.
One thing that proved a life saver on this extended adventure, were our RTIC coolers. In freezing temps, they keep your water supplies and food from freezing (ESSENTIAL! Our cat’s water bowl would freeze within 1 hour of thawing it, it was so cold). They also prevent carbonated drinks from exploding and shattering windows (which I learned the hard way living in Alaska through winters).
In warmer and summer temps, you can count on your food, beverages, and water supplies being kept the perfect temperature and lasting the journey to take you off the grid and into the territories that resemble other-worldly locations where people and services are few and far between.
Another quality I really love about these new designs is the ultra-light weight on the 52 model. I was able to easily load and unload the large cooler fully stocked without assistance. This is crucial for me as a solo traveler as my boyfriend only joined for a portion of my multi-month road trip and I am often solo in my adventures & only 5 ft tall. Both beautiful AND functional, everything I could ask for in outdoor equipment.
We ventured from hot springs, to “mars”, to “the moon,” canyoneered off towering cliffs of red, mauve, and varnish colors that paint the desert and climbed to new heights together. Camped with incredible views, ate like kings and queens, and shared memories that will last our lifetimes. I am never the same after these extended trips into the wildest terrain of the US, and now that I have RTIC in tow along the ride, I can confidently go even further in future.
