Enchanting Backcountry Shelter
@sea2summitexplorer and I love finding and staying in unique lodging like yurts, fire-lookouts, teepees, cabins, treehouses, bunkers etc. On the 3rd night of our backpacking trip through the Enchanted Valley in the Olympics, we stumbled upon this old shelter fort in a camp called Siberia and were beyond stoked to get the entire camp and nearby meadow to ourselves for the night. We enjoyed dinner in a field of flowers overlooking the adjacent mountain range, had some intimate moments with deer and got to experience a highlight and add a new type of lodging to our adventure repertoire. Being the only 2 people in an entire area under the stars made us feel like we went back in time somehow. Where’s the most unexpected place you’ve gotten to stay on trips lately?
