A solitary human figure is standing amidst a vast, arid landscape of undulating sand dunes and towering rock formations. The dunes are carved into intricate patterns by the wind, with layers of warm oranges, reds, and tans creating a visually striking scene. The sky is a brilliant blue, with scattered fluffy white clouds adding depth and contrast. The person, dressed in dark clothing, appears small and insignificant against the grand scale of the natural surroundings, emphasizing the raw power and beauty of nature.

Fragile Beauty of Nature

Nature is the greatest artist there ever was, and she’s alive in all of us. Everything we create is in some way inspired by nature, whether we’re conscious of it or not. We are nature. We are the wild. Walking around this fragile place, I felt a strange sadness. It was slippery on steep parts. Every step I took, bits of sand cascaded down and blew away. Chunks would sometimes break off. As old and gorgeous as it is, it is temporary. Fragile. Just like us. It won’t be there forever, and neither will we. These thoughts created an immense respect for the sacredness of the place and deeper appreciation for the permit system. Getting to walk the sand dunes of this area, feeling the fine texture between your toes and fingers and seeing the large cliffs, walls, and caves that were reduced to dust, make you think of time. How in time, we will one day become dust as well, no matter how big we think we’ve become in life. The landscape seemed to speak to me on this day and told a message I can carry as a memory and reminder. “Tread lightly on your life, as you would in these places. Enjoy the curves in the road. Let the winds of time, rains of tears, and floods of experiences color, paint, and decorate your story with iridescence. Sparkle so vibrantly in your life that even your aftermath sands brings joy to those who’ve walked with you.” On this day I was inspired by nature, to be true to my nature, and make my life…art.
