Five Years of Self-Discovery After Leaving Corporate Life

Five years ago today, I made a decision that would change my life forever. On August 7, 2019, I handed in my two-week notice, saying goodbye to my 16-year corporate roles and the hedonistic treadmill lifestyle that came with them. I announced my plan to quit and travel the world in 2020. When the globe shut down, instead of giving up, I dove headfirst into everything that terrified me but whispered my name with a tantalizing allure. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the adventures I’d embark on, the person I’d become, or the obstacles I’d overcome over the next five years. This chapter of my life has been about discovering what I’m truly made of, beyond job titles and salary figures. I’ve faced fears, admitted vulnerabilities, and sought help when needed. And I’ve overcome every “it” that came my way. This journey has revealed a strength and resilience in me that I never knew existed. Now, as I look to the future, I’m ready to dive deeper into focus, learning, and leadership. The quest I’ve undertaken has shown me that my worth goes far beyond any paycheck or title. My time is my own, and my journey is invaluable. So, where will you be in five years if you decide to bet on yourself? Who will you become if you take that leap of faith? Let’s find out together.
