Chasing the Sun and Fall Colors
For the last 4 years, I’ve “avoided” winter by being a snowbird and traveling south the moment temps dip in the Northwest, typically beginning in September. It’s been magical to experience places like Yosemite, Banff, Sedona, ABQ Balloon Fiesta, etc. this time of year and create core memories on the road, chasing the sun and the fall colors.
Why after 4 years am I not departing until late December this year? Community.
In order to have a home to return to, you have to invest time in your basecamp, relationships, and network so that you can be excited to boomerang back when the time comes.
We were gone 9 months this last year, home since June, and this year it feels aligned to stay put a little longer to put in the extra FaceTime, memory making, and effort with people we enjoy, so we’re excited to come back next summer.
A place doesn’t make a home, the people you surround yourself does (including yourself and being home within). It’s a feeling, and one that has to be created with intention and effort.
Seattle, WA is home and has been for 11.5 years and the only place so far that no matter where I venture out to, I’m excited to come back to time and time again. Here’s some scenes from Washington lately and moments I just cant get enough of.
