DIY Patriotic Straw Jewelry for 4th of July

Straws aren't just for drinking...at least when you have a kiddo to entertain. Since it’s almost time for picnics, fireworks, and red, white, and blue we grabbed some straws and came up with a new craft idea! This activity kept my kiddos extra busy as they made necklaces and bracelets to wear and share this 4th of July. It was fun sitting with them and talking about the things they like about the 4th of July like fireworks, ice cream, and spending time with family (totally melts my heart). Supplies: Straws (We used paper straws found at the dollar store or party store) Yarn Tape Scissors Beads (Optional) Directions: Cut the straws into ½ inch-1 inch pieces to make beads. Cut a piece of yarn the size you want the jewelry to be (necklace or bracelet). Make sure to leave enough yarn to be able to tie a knot when it’s done. Wrap a small piece of tape around one end of the yarn to make it easier to thread through the beads. Let your kids string beads onto the yarn. Kids can make patterns or create their own design. When they are done secure the beads by tying a knot. Now they are ready to show off their Red, White, and Blue!
