Kids Activities
A child's hand is shown holding an inflated plastic zippered bag filled with a purple liquid mixture. On a paved surface nearby are two other inflated bags, one blue and one red, containing liquid mixtures. The bags appear to have expanded due to a chemical reaction happening inside, creating gas that inflated them. White text overlaid on the image reads 'summer science fun!', indicating this is a fun and educational summer science activity for children.

Exploding Baking Soda Bags Science Activity

We are at it again turning baking soda science into an insane activity entitled, Exploding Baggies. What kid can resist such a well named activity, lol. Don’t worry, there won’t be a big mess because you can take this activity outside and spray it down with the hose when it’s all done. You could even spray off the kids if you would like, hehe. So gather a zip lock bag, baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, and your kids and check out the directions below. Supplies: Zipper bag 2 Tbsp Baking soda 1/3 cup Vinegar Food coloring Directions: Add the vinegar in the bottom of a baggie and mix in a few drops of food coloring. Twist the bag in the middle to seal off the vinegar and add the baking soda in the top section of the bag. Seal it and carefully set it on the ground. When you’re ready for the fun, have the kids untwist the bags and shake them. Make sure they set them back on the ground and watch the gas expand in the bags until the pop!
