A human hand is holding a small white bowl containing a vibrant red liquid, likely a dye or paint mixture. Scattered around the bowl on the gray concrete surface are numerous colorful stone-like pieces in various shades of red, pink, blue, yellow, and white. The scene suggests an artistic activity involving painting or creating designs on the sidewalk using the liquid mixture and the colored pieces.

Fizzing Sidewalk Paint Activity

The sidewalk makes a wonderful canvas, don’t ya think; It’s large and easily washable giving the kids ample space to create without having to worry about the mess (I love it when I can just get the hose out to clean up). This time we are making sidewalk art fizz and bubble. Check out the directions below. Tip: Want to add more “learning to this activity? Talk about the reaction between acids and base chemicals. This is a fun way to incorporate chemistry into your child’s life (or just enjoy the fizz). Supplies: A container of baking soda 1/2 cup of cornstarch Warm (almost hot) Water Food coloring Directions: Mix the dry ingredients and then add water, stirring until it’s not too thick. Mix in food coloring to make different colors. Invite children to create art with the mixture. Now for the fun! Spray the paint with a bottle of vinegar and watch the fizz appear.
