#Brussels surprised me. You know how you have this vague idea of certain cities that sometimes gets completely smashed into pieces once you get there?

In my mind, Brussels was always this grey, stuffy, refined but somewhat boring place. And I heard many opinions (from those who also hadn't been), that there's no point in going because it's just a bleh grey place.

I could not have been more wrong. In some suburbs it felt more like I was in a coastal Portuguese or French town, with colorful buildings, cafes and balconies. People were relaxed, incredibly friendly, (a Francophone population randomly smiling and saying "Bonjour" to you as they walk past - what?!), and So. Damn. Cool. I passed probably three skate parks on my way into the center and plenty of street art; at a bar that night, I got into conversation with four different animated groups of people who loved their city and were curious to meet new friends.

#Travel really destroys your expectations in the best way possible sometimes, right? Love this exploring around towns with @RailEurope. #losethemap
