Big change of pace - from Kilimanjaro to Palm Springs. Iām a sucker for these colorful retro Americana spaces that are all over the town. This is the milkshake shop āGreat Shakesā - and yes, I also bought a shake, obviously.

Known as LAās resort town, Palm Springs has gone through many revivals. From a town of glamorous desert vacation homes for Old Hollywood and the Rat Pack, to the home of modernist architecture, to perhaps the most LGBTQ-friendly city in all the US (the city council is currently 100% LGBTQ), Palm Springs, like the rest of California, thrives on reinvention.

Itās quirky and puzzling and wonderful, like so much of the Southwest desert is. I canāt wait to explore more.
