A woman with long, wavy brown hair strikes a contemplative pose with her hand resting on her cheek while gazing directly at the camera. She wears a casual grey t-shirt and appears to be indoors, with a plain wall visible behind her. Her expression is slightly pensive or concerned. Notably, her other hand is raised, and she is wearing a disposable white latex glove, suggesting a connection to the context of protective medical gear and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Day 12: Do you have extra boxes of latex gloves sitting around? Did you get panicked and buy a whole bunch of N95 masks, but are currently sitting at home except for a once in a 2 week trip to the grocery store. DONATE THEM. •• Our hospitals are already being severely hit, and the situation is only expected to worsen. There are massive shortages of protective gear. I myself have a couple of boxes of gloves I will be donating today - the glove in the photo was from an opened pack I own, worn before heading to the supermarket today. I have no plans to go again for 3 weeks. •• Now, this shortage facing hospitals isn’t unfortunately just due to hoarding. There are a lot of reasons there is no equipment available, a lot of it having to do with lack of preparation and command of the situation at the federal level. •• HOWEVER. If you do have extra gear at home and can help, many hospitals are asking for donations of new, unused, unopened boxes of gloves and masks, or bottles of hand sanitizers NOW. Many communities are undertaking their own initiatives to collect such equipment, so look up what your community is doing and see if you can help. •• Our medical staff need our support more than ever. I will include a few links for donations in my stories. Let’s hear it for the amazing men and women putting themselves in the line of fire daily to save us. . . . .
