A vibrant and colorful beachfront pavilion structure is situated on a sandy beach, framed by the bright blue sky above. The pavilion consists of wooden support columns painted in shades of green, yellow, and turquoise, with a thatched roof overhead providing shade. Beneath the thatched roof, a series of wooden huts or cabanas can be seen, likely serving as accommodations or resting areas for visitors. The sand stretches out in front of the pavilion, creating a picturesque beachscape. The overall scene exudes a lively and tropical atmosphere, inviting relaxation and enjoyment of the coastal surroundings.

The colorful accents of Playa Blanca on Isla Baru, outside #Cartagena. •• Isla Baru is a bit misnamed, because you can get there by car. It’s a peninsula. It’s about 50 minutes by car and 40 minutes by lancha (speedboat) from central Cartagena. If you’ve eaten recently, I would recommend the car over the lancha. •• The columns are the support structures for the simple wooden hostel huts you can book to stay overnight on Playa Blanca. Recommendation: only visit Playa Blanca on an off-day or off-season. I visited during a Colombian holiday, and the beach was absolutely crammed with people. What’s the most crowded place you’ve found on your travels? . . . .
