A bustling street market scene in Cairo, Egypt. The narrow alleyway is lined with stalls and shops selling an array of colorful wares, from clothing and textiles to souvenirs and handicrafts. The buildings on either side of the alley have a distinct Middle Eastern architectural style, with intricate brickwork and arched doorways. The scene is teeming with people, both locals and tourists, browsing the merchandise and navigating the crowded pathway. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, with the sounds and smells of a traditional marketplace filling the air. The image captures the essence of the famous Khan el-Khalili market, a historic and iconic destination in the heart of Cairo.

At the famous Khan el-Khalili market in Cairo. •• There are narrow alleys in here where you can find some really excellent shops and local products. However, a lot of the stalls on the main thoroughfares have similar mass produced tourist trinkets as I saw in the markets of Dubai. •• Markets around the world aimed at tourists seem to increasingly be selling the same things, losing a lot of local flavor along the way. Have you noticed this? . . . .
