A picturesque alleyway winds through the charming old town of Nafplio, Greece. The narrow cobblestone street is lined with traditional Greek buildings featuring arched doorways and wrought-iron balconies adorned with intricate designs. The buildings are painted in warm hues of beige, pink, and terracotta, with colorful shutters and potted plants adding pops of vibrancy. Lanterns hang from the buildings, casting a warm glow onto the scene. The sky above is a brilliant blue, creating a striking contrast with the pastel-colored buildings. The alleyway stretches into the distance, inviting visitors to explore the historic town.

Walking through the beautiful streets of the old town of #Nafplio. •• Nafplio was actually the first capital of the modern (post-Ottoman occupation) Greek state, thanks in part to its stunning fortress and other strong fortifications. •• The first head of government, Ioannis Kapodistrias, ruled from 1828 until his assassination just a few years later in 1831, upon which King Otto took over. •• Also yes, although it is known for being the birthplace of democracy, Greece was, for a while, a kingdom, then a constitutional monarchy up until a military coup in 1967. •• I have loved seeing more of my home country this summer, and learning much more about the place I came from. It’s one of the things I love most about travel - you learn about culture and history by seeing and experiencing, in a way that imprints that knowledge in your mind forever. I look forward to exploring so much more... . . . . #streetsingreece #visitnafplio #ναυπλιο
