i was up just after 4am, bundled myself into my car and drove the ~ 41 minutes out to Sparks Lake. I could feel the excitement building in my bones as I cruised along the highway. It was the first sunrise I had caught since early March. As I rounded the first turn along the road leading out to the lake I caught a glimpse of the fog, it was clinging to the lake surface and my excitement continued to build. I picked up my friends, Shawn and Sarah, from where they had been camping the night before and we all drove out to the main parking lot. As we walked down the trail and out onto the lakeshore the birds began to chirp; nature’s alarm clocks waking us up. The air was quite chilly so I tucked my hands into the insulated pockets of my jacket as we watched a tinge of pink paint the lake and clouds. Even after the color had faded we were left with this beautiful, hazy blue light. We eventually bailed for breakfast, our stomachs grumbling. If you’ve read this far, what did you eat for breakfast this morning? I had 🍞 + 🥑🤤
