Jessie on a Journey
A delectable savory pancake known as okonomiyaki is presented on a plate. The pancake is adorned with a drizzle of kewpie mayonnaise, a Japanese barbecue sauce, and a sprinkling of bonito flakes, creating a visually appealing and flavorful dish. The pancake appears to be made with ingredients such as cabbage, and in this particular instance, it is also filled with succulent pork belly. The okonomiyaki has a golden-brown hue, indicating that it has been perfectly grilled. The shredded cabbage adds a colorful and textural contrast to the dish, while the toppings provide a delightful combination of flavors and aromas.

Savory Okonomiyaki at New Bushwick Restaurant

I recently discovered a tasty new restaurant in Bushwick: @okiwaynyc. Took me back to my time in Osaka with their okonomiyaki (pictured above, a savory grilled pancake gowned in kewpie mayonnaise, Japanese barbecue sauce and bonito flakes, among other ingredients; I had mine with pork belly, too!). They also serve inventive small plates like cactus sashimi, potato salad made with yuzu kewpie mayo, and, my personal favorite, a flavorful wasabi guacamole. Pair your meal with one of their many sakes or a wasabi beer that kind of tastes like you're eating chips, in a good way! Have you made any interesting restaurant discoveries lately?
