Jessie on a Journey
A woman wearing sunglasses, a peach-colored tank top, denim shorts, and hiking boots is standing on a rocky, desolate landscape with mountains in the background. She has a purple backpack slung over one shoulder and a bright smile on her face. The sky is a vibrant blue with wispy white clouds. The image exudes a sense of adventure and exploration in the great outdoors.

Keeping the Spirit of Travel Alive at Home

Why do you get out of bed in the morning? ⏰ Before COVID-19 (remember that?!), I got out of bed every day because I loved empowering others to confidently explore the world and give in to their curiosity. 🌍 During quarantine, I STILL get out of bed for the same reason, though it looks a little different. In my opinion, travel is ultimately about experiencing new things, giving in to our curiosity, getting out of our routines, opening our minds, and connecting with people and places we can't at home (vs checking sites off a list). 🗺️ Sure, we can't travel or connect in person right now. But I think the spirit of travel can be kept alive in the home. For instance, you can: ✈️ Go on a virtual safari with @exploreorg's livecams ✈️ Challenge yourself to cook a meal from a different country every night -- and research its origins 👈(@brianmayroam is killin' it in the Instagram Live cooking tutorials department) ✈️ Take a virtual cooking class with @leagueofkitchens and step into the home of an immigrant woman in NYC to learn her family recipes 👈(By the way, this is one of the coolest things I've ever done) ✈️ Take a Spanish class via Skype with a @lamariposanicaragua instructor from Nicaragua ✈️ Honestly, if you have a favorite travel business -- a tour company, hotel, retreat, language immersion, etc -- they are likely doing some kind of online programming right now, so check them out! 😊#BeyondTheGuidebook * * *
