Exploring Santiago Island's Volcanic Landscape

Pahoehoe lava. That is what we walk over while exploring Santiago Island in the Galapagos. (#ad) 🥾 This is the third island on our M/Y Passion cruise itinerary — the black lunar landscape so much different from that of Genovesa (a sandy birding island) and Marchena (with its jagged rock formations). 🌋 On Santiago, the ground was formed from a shield volcano with the same name, causing the ground to feature rope-like patterns and textures adding a mesmerizing twist.
