Jessie on a Journey
A young woman with bright red curly hair tied up in a bandana stands on a walkway overlooking the iconic Manhattan skyline across the East River. The cityscape is framed by the towering skyscrapers of Midtown, including the Empire State Building, rising majestically against a bright blue sky with wispy clouds. The woman wears a pink t-shirt with a graphic print, denim shorts, and sunglasses, striking a relaxed and casual pose while leaning on the railing. The walkway appears to be in Williamsburg, a trendy neighborhood in Brooklyn, offering an unparalleled view of the iconic New York City skyline.

Exploring My Own Backyard: The Charms of NYC

What's a favorite discovery you've made being curious in your home destination? ___ Most of us want to travel the world more; to pack our bags and leave behind the comforts of home for a path unknown. But how many us take the time to explore our own backyards? ___ I'll admit my backyard is quite easy to explore with curiosity since I live in New York; but here's the truth: until I became a NYC tour guide four years ago I had never visited the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island (where my grandmother came through!) or walked the Brooklyn Bridge. Even here, locals get a case of the "I'll do it later" syndrome. ___ Lately I've been hitting the road less, and spending more time really discovering the nooks and crannies of NYC. And that includes beyond Manhattan. Heck, I even went camping on Staten Island a few weekends ago. Who knew?! ___ Here I am taking in the Manhattan skyline from the Williamsburg waterfront. While this isn't a new discovery -- I take my @nycphototour guests here all the time -- it's a favorite. It's an actual park with leafy green areas and docks to chill on with a good book or a picnic -- might I suggest goodies from @depanneurbklyn? ___ Sunglasses = @officialmauijim / T-shirt & shorts = @buffaloexchange / Lipstick = @stowaway / Wrist Tattoos = 1 real ; 1 @tattly 😉
