Exploring Governors Island in NYC

What's my favorite thing about being a travel blogger? You may be surprised to learn it's NOT traveling. ___ Actually, it's being the CEO of my own life. And as the big kahuna making all the decisions, I've given myself Summer Fridays. As in, by noon I better be somewhere awesome exploring, cycling or sipping rose. ___ Or all of the above! Last Friday I took the 8-minute ferry from Manhattan to @governorsisland, a historic, essentially uninhabited island with a rich military history that's today full of greenspace, quirky playgrounds, bike paths, gardens and small museums. There are also some amazing waterfront bars to take in the Manhattan skyline with a drink 🥂 ___ I know we can't all give ourselves Fridays off; but we can ALL become more curious, especially about the places we live. I've lived in New York my whole life and had only ever visited Governors Island to attend the annual @jazzagelawnparty, never to just explore. ___ So, I'd love to know. Where's someplace in your hometown that you'd love to explore while playing hooky?
