Jessie on a Journey
A massive seated Buddha statue towers over a landscaped garden area and temple complex against a clear blue sky. The Buddha figure is rendered in a golden color and sits in a meditative pose with fingers pointing downward on a ornately decorated pedestal. The statue's calm facial expression and serene posture exude a sense of peace and enlightenment. At the base, smaller statues and architectural elements adorn the temple structure, creating a visually striking and awe-inspiring spiritual monument. A few people can be seen walking around the grounds, dwarfed by the colossal size of the Buddha statue.

Buddha Point: Bhutan's Colossal Statue

#Bhutan is seriously full of amazing spiritual spots! From Thimphu's city center I enjoy a winding drive up Buddha Point Road, slowing making my way away from the valley floor toward the surrounding peaks. The destination: Buddha Point, one of the world’s largest Buddha statues at over 200 feet (if you count the pedestal). The placement of the seated Buddha’s fingers pointing down represents Buddha’s posture when he vowed to the earth and the nagas to not get up from his meditation in India until he’d found enlightenment.
