Jessie on a Journey
A striking image of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge spanning across the East River, captured against a vibrant blue sky with wispy white clouds. The suspension bridge's intricate steel framework stands out, showcasing its impressive engineering feat. Majestic stone towers soar high, supporting the towering suspension cables that gracefully curve over the span. In the foreground, lush trees with autumn foliage add warmth and contrast to the scene. The bridge arches majestically over a grassy park area, inviting visitors to enjoy the picturesque surroundings and panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline in the distance. This historical landmark, completed in 1883, exemplifies the ingenuity and ambition of its designer, John Augustus Roebling, and has become an iconic symbol of New York City's resilience and progress.

Brooklyn Bridge: NYC's Iconic Landmark

The Brooklyn Bridge was the creation of German immigrant John Augustus Roebling, completed in 1883 and one of the country's oldest suspension bridges. At its time of completion, its 1,595.5 feet (486.3 meter) span made it the world's longest suspension bridge, with the support towers the tallest structure in #NYC at 276 feet (84 meters). I enjoy the views of the Bridge while relaxing in Brooklyn Bridge Park, which also offers views of the #ManhattanBridge, shown above, opened in 1909, also noted for its innovative design for the time. Chilling out in Brooklyn Bridge Park is #13 on @viatortravel's NYC activities list. As part of the #ViatorMyCity campaign, I'm exploring sights in my own backyard of New York.
