Tips for Downsizing and Living with Less
Was it hard to sell EVERYTHING?
I get this question a lot and honestly the answer is yes & no. Downsizing to go fulltime is very different then spring cleaning and organizing. When we looked at all the stuff we accumulated over the years there simply wasn't space to put it and the original purpose of those items didn't translate into this new lifestyle.
I was tired of the constant race to have more and better "things" and always changing it with the seasons. I could never catch up. Selling all our things was extremely freeing!
I challenge you to start living with less. Break free from the grip of the "must have" culture and invest in things that actually matter!
So, here are our tips to start living with less that helped us make the transition:
▪️Track everything you buy in a month. Pay attention to how it makes you feel and the reason why you bought it. Do you really need it or is it a want? Next month, could you cut that spending in half? Rinse and repeat.
▪️Pick one area to start in and look at all the items and their uses. If it broke or you lost it today, would you replace it and why? It takes time and doesn't have to be completed all at once.
▪️What can you sell to bring in some extra money? I made over $6,000 selling things household items, tools, dishes, and everything in between. Especially right now, some extra cash could be very helpful.
