Exploring Outside the 303
A breathtaking panoramic view of the Grand Canyon, taken from a viewpoint called Ooh Aah Point along the South Kaibab Trail. The vast, layered expanse of the canyon stretches out before the viewer, revealing a landscape of deep hues of red and orange rock formations, carved by the forces of erosion over millions of years. The rugged terrain is punctuated by towering buttes and spires, casting dramatic shadows across the vibrant palette of the canyon walls. In the foreground, a wooden sign stands as a marker, its weathered surface bearing the name 'Ooh Aah Point', aptly capturing the awe-inspiring nature of the vista. A striking shadow, seemingly in the shape of a cross, falls across the sign, adding a symbolic touch to the natural wonder. This image encapsulates the grandeur and majesty of one of the world's most iconic geological wonders.

Hiking Ooh Aah Point in the Grand Canyon

During our visit to the Grand Cayon, I found a hiking stop on the South Kaibab Trail called Ooh Aah Point that was a must see. It is 2 miles round trip with an 600 elevation change. Going down was the easy part. We took multiple breaks on the way up but honestly I am a cardio queen and I liked going up better then going down the trail. We used treking poles for the first time on this hike and found them to be helpful, especially on the way up. Steve is still on the mend from hurting his ankle during our last hike, so we decided to only do the 2 miles, although I think we could have done more. Next time! Addy and I got close to the edge for some photos and my legs about gave out, they were shaking so hard being that close to the edge. The view was awe inspiring, just as the name suggests. We all agreed that next time we should hike to the water, stay the night, and hike back up. I'll leave you with this last piece, the first photo I took was the picture of the sign and I didn't notice the shadow made a cross at first. I can't help but think how fitting it is because God creates amazing scenery, he is awe inspiring, and this spot you really do say Ooh Aah!
