The sky is a brilliant blue with scattered white clouds, creating a picturesque and inviting scene for outdoor exploration and adventure. In the distance, the distinctive Devils Tower rises majestically, a monolithic rock formation with steep walls that attracts rock climbers and holds significant cultural and spiritual significance for Native American tribes in the region.

Devils Tower Journey

Devils Tower was the first National Monument in the US (1906) but has even more significance to American Indians. ⠀ Colored bundles of cloth are left by American Indians as prayer offerings at the base of the tower. Also, there is a movement to revert the name back to "Bear Lodge" as it is more an acceptable name and reflects the American Indian tribes reverence for and connect with the site. ⠀ Some facts about Devils Tower: ▪️from the base, it is more than 4 football fields tall (867 feet) ▪️it's not hollow ▪️the site is closed to climbers in June as American Indians ceremonies are often held during/around the summer solstice ⠀ ⁉️ Have you been to Devils Tower? ⠀ Follow our adventures👉 @exploringoutsidethe303 @ Devils Tower National Monument
