Remote Philippines Island Gem

A location worthy of its own reel 🇵🇭 Cresta De Gallo🐔 I won’t say hidden but it sure is isolated and barely known… Definitely the Philippines best kept gem! Less than 3,000 people visit this remote island every year! To put that in perspective, Palawan and Boracay receive nearly 2 million visitors annually… Normally I’m not in the business of sharing the names of places like this; however, the island closest to where you arrive and depart for this day trip, Sibuyan, wants you to come! I spoke with dozens of people from different municipalities and they all echoed the same desire— and so do the neighboring islands that make up the region. Almost no foreign trickle-over comes from Boracay just next door and many really struggle to make a living for their families. I’m not saying this single island can sustain that many people and it will take time to build up the infrastructure nearby, but it’s worth your trip here for this glorious island! You’ll be welcome by some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met 😁 This was the pinnacle of a 15-day island hopping adventure that took me 1 flight, 3 ferries, 2 buses, 2 tricycles, and one final motorboat ride to get here! Not to mention the countless stories along that journey 💥
