Remote Philippines Island Gem

A location worthy of its own reel šŸ‡µšŸ‡ Cresta De GallošŸ” I wonā€™t say hidden but it sure is isolated and barely knownā€¦ Definitely the Philippines best kept gem! Less than 3,000 people visit this remote island every year! To put that in perspective, Palawan and Boracay receive nearly 2 million visitors annuallyā€¦ Normally Iā€™m not in the business of sharing the names of places like this; however, the island closest to where you arrive and depart for this day trip, Sibuyan, wants you to come! I spoke with dozens of people from different municipalities and they all echoed the same desireā€” and so do the neighboring islands that make up the region. Almost no foreign trickle-over comes from Boracay just next door and many really struggle to make a living for their families. Iā€™m not saying this single island can sustain that many people and it will take time to build up the infrastructure nearby, but itā€™s worth your trip here for this glorious island! Youā€™ll be welcome by some of the friendliest people Iā€™ve ever met šŸ˜ This was the pinnacle of a 15-day island hopping adventure that took me 1 flight, 3 ferries, 2 buses, 2 tricycles, and one final motorboat ride to get here! Not to mention the countless stories along that journey šŸ’„
