Budget-Friendly Tips for NYC Travel
Ways to save money while exploring New York City!๐ฐ NYC is a fabulous city, but it can also be quite pricey. As a budget traveler, I am always looking for ways to save money but still get the most out of the experience. Here are a few tips to use when planning a trip to the
First of all, when I am planning any vacation I always decide what I want to ๐๐๐๐๐ the bulk of our money on and where I want to ๐๐๐๐. For New York, the broadway shows were a must! We also wanted to spend a good chunk of money on 3 other New York experiences ~ a ferry to the Statue of Liberty with an audio tour, the 9/11 memorial and museum, and riding bikes through Central Park. The rest of the activities we did were either free or very inexpensive.
๐ฐ Now for the areas we saved ~ our vacation rental, food, and shopping! In tomorrowโs post Iโll explain how we saved A LOT of money on the rental. The food in New York is very expensive so we ate a big breakfast before we left for the day, and packed snacks and drinks to eat in between meals. We had A LOT of pizza and ate at sandwich shops for lunch and dinner. Even then, we still budgeted about $120 a day on food for a family of 5. Next, shopping on a budget >> New York City is full of incredible stores. I mean seriously, one of the most phenomenal shopping experiences ever!! For some, it may be the very reason for the trip and may be where you want to spend the bulk of your travel money. For us, it wasnโt our main priority. We enjoyed roaming in and out of stores without buying much and gave the kids a budget for souvenirs.
What do you like to spend the bulk of your money on, while traveling, and where do you like to save?
