10 Things to Avoid When Traveling with Teens
đź“ŚSave this for future travels! Traveling with teenagers can be both fun and challenging. Here are 10 things you should avoid when traveling with teens:
1. Don’t micromanage their every move: Give them some freedom to explore within safe boundaries.
2. Don’t ignore their interests: Involve them in planning activities that they would enjoy.
3. Don’t overpack their schedule: Balance planned activities with downtime to avoid burnout.
4. Don’t underestimate the importance of food: Ensure there are options they enjoy, but also encourage them to try new foods. Also, stop for food often… no one wants a “hangry” teenager!
5. Don’t disregard their opinions: Involve them in decision-making to make them feel valued.
6. Don’t be inflexible with plans: Be open to changes and spontaneous activities.
7. Don’t expect them to act like adults: Remember they’re still teenagers and may need guidance.
8. Don’t forget to set expectations: Clearly communicate rules and expectations for behavior during the trip.
9. Don’t forget to budget for souvenirs: Allow them some spending money. It doesn’t have to be much. We give our kids $20 per trip, so they can get a little something to remember it.
10. Don’t skip discussing the highlights of the day: Encourage them to reflect on and share positive experiences from each day of the trip to foster gratitude and positivity.
