Mars ... on Earth. 🌎 If you haven’t seen the great Haleakala - the massive dormant volcano crater on Maui’s southeastern side - you are missing an experience out of this world. Pun, you say? Okay, maybe. 😏 But there’s actually truth to that. In Hawaiian, the name means “house of the sun.” ☀️ Legend has it that demigod Maui lassoed the sun from its summit to slow its orbit and lengthen the day. 🕑 Today, Haleakala is famous for being one of the top places on earth to watch a sunrise or sunset 🌅 as it peaks above the clouds. In addition, its landscape shifts from red Mars-like desert sands and rocks to greenery and waterfalls, making it a wondrous sight. Ever wanted to visit another planet or feel inches from Heaven? ✨ Haleakala National Park 🏞 (specifically the Visitor’s Center) is where it’s at! Want to take it to a whole new level? Take a helicopter tour 🚁 of the island like I did (shout out to @bluehawaiianhelicopters 🤙), and catch it all on camera! 📸 #alohafilms⠀
