Tips for Working with Brands as a Travel Blogger
3 Easy Tips to Start Working with Brands - your questions answered š¤ā¤µļø
1. What sort of brands work with travel bloggers? Honestly, I donāt think there is limit of brands you can work with. The question to ask yourself is, what sort of things do you recommend / suggest as a travel blogger? What is your area of expertise? For example, if you share a lot about budget travel, are there companies that help make travel more affordable that you can collaborate with? If you focus on sustainability, are there brands i.e. luggage or other travel products that have a sustainability initiative you could support? When choosing brands to work with, I believe itās important to believe in their mission! That will make the collaboration truly worthwhile and mutually beneficial, which is what itās all about!
2. Do you reach out to brands via email or IG or do they reach out to you? The short answer: a little bit of everything! I usually start by messaging them on IG asking for the email of the individual who handles PR / media requests. Once I get the correct email, I send a more formal pitch via email. Iāve had brands reach out to me, but I wouldnāt wait for that - especially when you are just getting started!
3. How to get a āyesā. Best advice here is to not let the noās crush you, which I know is so much easier said than done š. If I had a dollar for every no Iāve gotten, Iād be rich lol. Honestly it sounds so simple, but the truth is you just have to keep trying, itās a numbers game. You will get a lot of noās and thatās part of it. I wouldnāt be shy/afraid to ask questions when you get a no. Why not ask so you can get a better idea of what they are looking for and try again later or with another brand. Sometimes itās honestly not you and itās the timing. Donāt take it too personally. However, a lot of noās might be a sign to re-evaluate your pitch, your portfolio, your timing etc. Oof I think I need to create a workshop just for this! š«¶
