Tips for the Indian Head Hike in the Adirondacks

🇺🇸| Everything you need to know about this incredible fall hike in the Adirondacks ⤵️ 🥾You must make a ‘New Parking Reservation’ on amr.org between 5/1 and 10/31. Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance. I found early mornings a good time for slots to open up (between 7 and 8AM) even in the peak period (we went on 10/12). 🍁You can arrive as early as 5AM and hike up for sunrise. After much research, it seems the best time of day to visit would be the early afternoon - sunset for optimal light. We started at 3:00PM and I think that was a little too late. 🏔 Indian Head is a 10.8 mile loop trail generally considered challenging. Wear appropriate shoes as it can be muddy and there are some steep climbs. Bring lots of water! 🌞There will be someone waiting at the parking lot to check your reservation and another person right at the gate to enter the trail in case you have any further questions. This was one of the most rewarding hikes I’ve ever done, the views are spectacular and photos/ videos don’t even do them justice. 10/10 recommend.
